- Art Jewellery by Tytti Lindström:
Exhibition in Kellari Gallery at the Kuopio Academy of Design, Oct 16 - Nov 2, 2007
The works at the Outo Aukko – Objects to Wear exhibition have originated from wondering about what makes people wear objects with different sizes of holes on their bodies. The jewellery-like objects presented at the exhibition are meant to encourage the spectators to define the use of the objects themselves and to examine the possibilities of a reverse interpretation of the objects, through the holes.
The materials used in the works differ somewhat from the conventions of traditional jewellery design. The holes and the material of the objects then become clues for studying these objects - will the spestators desire to wear them on their bodies? “Can I put my head through there? Perhaps my hand will fit here? Is that hole only ornamental or should I put my finger through?”
