Two of my wearable wall pieces ‘Kalynthea’ and ‘Neptunia’ from the series ‘Artefacts of A Certain Age’ are displayed in a new group exhibition called ‘Art Dual: Finnish Craftmanship and Vintage Charms‘. The exhibition opens in the end of November in Gallery GAo ShAn in Helsinki.
Beautiful yet often also practical decorative art objects can pass from generation to generation, something which aligns with contemporary ideals and demands for sustainability.
The Art Dual exhibition presents contemporary decorative pieces juxtaposed with charming vintage art items familiar from art and design catalogues of past decades. Visitors can attempt to discover their possible influences to modern day and explore whether the works reveal something new. Is there also vintage art of the coming decades on display?
On display are contemporary jewelry, ceramics, wood art, and textile art by artists Minttu Somervuori, Kirsti Doukas, Susanna & Tobias Feuerbacher, Heli Savila, Janne Peltokangas, Wing Yin, Tytti Lindström, Heidi Linsen and Jaana Junkkaala.
